SOWETO Businesswoman Pumla Ntsele (32) is taking local business to the world. Ntsele is a proud South African woman who believes life is all about challenges. In September 2007 she established an advertising company called SOWETO Business Guide. She aims to grow South African, and more specifically SOWETO’s economy, by showcasing businesses to the world through internet. “Soweto businesses have long existed, but they’ve never had an opportunity to expand to the world” said Pumla.”The time has come for business to go beyond advertising by writing on the wall” It’s also a platform for businesses to advertise and network. Ntsele, who is experienced in marketing and tourism, believes the introduction of web listings for local businesses will open doors for local companies to reach the world.”As we live in the world of technology, many business people are always glued to their computers and surf the net for business opportunities. “This is a great opportunity for our people to network through our website,” she said. The public has immediate access to a variety of service providers at a touch of a button. The website provides more than a business listing, it will also showcase local events and news. The website is the first of its kind to be introduced and formed in the world famous township. With new developments happening in Soweto ahead of 2010 World Cup, the website aims to attract more businesses to generate more profit with its services. Pumla also said she believes her company offers trade opportunities for local businesses and international diplomats. The company also allows local people exposure to communication via technology. In future, SOWETO Business Guide will be looking at spreading its wings by introducing the same website to other townships in the country. |
